Durham Big Ride adds horse power to pedal power.

The fifth Durham Big Ride will see local car dealership Springfield Honda adding horse-power to the event this year, heading the riders off on their journey through the Durham County countryside.

Springfield Honda Durham will be providing the ‘lead vehicle’ to guide the riders out on both the Durham Big Ride and ‘The Beast’ this year. “Both events will see hundreds of riders go out on mass and it is very important the group have a focal point to guide them through the route. Not only does the ‘lead vehicle’ help the riders but it also helps on route marshals and other road users, telling one and all that the riders are coming.” Said Colin Wilkes Race Organiser.

Springfield was happy to help out last year and this year wants to expand on that: “It is good for a business like us to get involved with the Durham community and what better way to do it than to add our help to a great community ride such as the Durham Big Ride”. Said Scott Stevenson of Springfield Honda Durham, “This year we will be adding to the ‘lead vehicle’ to our stand at the finish line with more of our product for people to see.”

The Durham Big Ride events are over two weekends: The family event on 4 September sees 3, 10 and 25 miles routes all start and finish at Durham County Hall. The following Sunday ‘The Beast’ challenges experienced cyclists across 50 miles of hills and dips around North Durham.

Applications will be taken on the day at £20 each. All participants on the Little Ride still £5 each.
